Welcome!
What a terrible picture for the first page…….but it’s a typical picture of the much improving River Calder after a flood. With its array of plastics and detritus left hanging from the bankside trees….. It’s not pretty sight to see.
Thank Goodness It’s Not All Bad News!
Believe it or not there’s a Kingfisher in this picture….and he’s just one of the many success stories in the Trust’s plight to improve not only wildlife’s habitat but our own too.
Yorkshire’s heritage of being the centre of the Industrial Revolution has left us with a legacy of biodiversity problems to reverse. As well as being under constant threat from new pollutions and invasive species both old and new.
As we look to the future, the Environment Agency, our countryside’s traditional custodian is changing its role rapidly and is likely to not be leading on as many projects. So becomes clear, why the Calder and Colne catchment need a charitable trust to be active on our Rivers.
